The enthusiasm for and expectation of happiness are so widespread today that fundamental questions about it are often overlooked. For starters, the most basic question of all: where does happiness come from? Is it your brain - a mere concoction of chemicals or network of neurons? Is it in fact your gut? (Spoiler alert: yes. Sort of) Or is it external? Is it love or sex or money or success? And what are these doing to our brains anyway? In The Happy Brain, Neuroscientist Dean Burnett delves into our most private selves to investigate what causes happiness.

Great starter in this genre.
My perception of this book comes after having read quite a few other books regarding motivation, organisation, life improvement etc; This book covers a tremendous breadth of fields, without getting into great detail. I would envisage it as being good for someone starting out and interested in a practical overview of basic strategies to improve their life.

Sensible
What a wonderful CD. I think I might even look for the book. It's sensible and down to earth and possible, no highfoluting ideas that nobody has the time to do. It seems to me to be in large living the golden rule and Nikeing it (Just Do It). It gives a boost where it's needed and is not the least condescending or airy fairy. Now if only I could get my husband to listen to it, and act upon it.

Very insightful
I’ve dappled with a level 10 life in the past which is a similar concept. The wheel of life in this book is so much better. It breaks each subject down further and gives lots of advice of how to improve these areas of your life. I’ve made so many notes. It’s very easy to read and easy to reference with the 50+ short chapters.
