About this listen

When siblings Dan and Hayley Daley inherit their late grandmother's derelict Victorian farmhouse, it seems like a dream come true. All they have to do is fix the place up and sell it for a tidy profit!

Except - as anyone who has renovated an old house knows - things are never that easy.

The walls are rapidly crumbling around them, the architect is a certified lunatic, the budget is spiraling...and then there's the disturbingly intelligent cow to worry about.

On top of all this, the renovation is being featured on a daytime reality TV show, and as soon as Great Locations presenter Gerard O'Keefe catches sight of Hayley's first-floor balcony, he's determined to woo her out of her ban on romance, whether she wants him to or not.

Will Dan and Hayley survive and sell up? Or will the whole thing collapse on them like a ton of bricks?

From bestselling author Nick Spalding comes a hilarious tale of life, love, and dodgy plumbing.

Laughed so hard in places. Cow, poo, floorboards and a bomb. All had me sniggering away like a little kid. Normally read Horror. Got this on the daily deal. Loved it. Off to see if Nick has written anymore.

Brilliantly Funny

The narration was okay, but I really didn't like the pathetic voice the narrator for Danny puts on for women.

The story was relatively entertaining and it was an easy and fun reas. However, the ending was predictable and cringy to say the least. Nick Spalding should probably play to his strengths and focus on the humour rather than attempt to weave in a romantic storyline.

Good laugh, entertaining, disappointing ending

Woman's voice was too upper class and totally different to her brothers!
And why have a female and a male narrator for them to narrate both lead voices very differently. Ruined the story for me and didn't finish it

Poor narration

Fantastic writing funniest thing I have listened to in years. The only downside to this recording was the performance of Heather Wilds. From the first few minutes I almost gave up as the narration given by H Wilds reminded me of a cross between Lost Voice Guy and Steven Hawkins. After Each word uttered there seems to be an over emphasised pause which was very annoying. This went on through the whole book but Nick Spalding’s writing and Napoleon Ryan’s performance made up for the irritation.

Great Book 50% performance

This is the first book I have had from Nick Spalding and was pleasantly surprised. It was engaging, funny and at times relatable (currently renovating a house that was truly in a sorry/soiled state with some very interesting finds!). The narration was brilliant and the delivery made me laugh on many occasions. Definitely recommend this if you want a fun, entertaining story.
