Summary

Born into one of the leading Mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. Aria was only 15 when her parents betrothed her to Luca "The Vice" Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families.

With Aria now 18, the day she has been dreading for years is looming dangerously: her wedding to Luca.

Aria is terrified of marrying a man she hardly knows, especially someone like Luca who got his nickname "The Vice" for crushing a man’s throat with his bare hands. Luca might be one of the most sought-after men in New York thanks to his good looks, wealth, and predator-like charisma that radiates power, but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know what Aria does - that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile.

In her world, a handsome exterior often hides the monster within - a monster who can just as easily kill as kiss you.

The only way to escape the marriage to Luca would be to run away and leave everything she’s ever known behind, but Aria can’t bear the thought of never seeing her family again.

Despite her fear, she decides to go through with the marriage; Aria has grown up among predators like Luca and knows that even most cold-hearted bastards have a heart, and she has every intention of working her way into Luca’s.

Horrible narrator

I can’t believe this woman accepted a mafia story that takes place in New York and Chicago yet she can’t even attempt to mimic the accent needed. Next time watch the God Father or an episode of The Sopranos. She killed the book for me.

DAMN, IT COULD’VE BEEN THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD

Sorry - this review comes with a spoiler alert.
.
With a few major and some minor tweaks here and there this could’ve been a good story.. but sorry Juliana, your whispery quiet narration would be best suited to children’s books and NOT, in my opinion, Mafia romances. Apart from the narration, the eighteen year old virginal weak heroine didn’t help either who fell in love, forgave and complied WAY too easily. Or the hero new husband who’d been cheating on his new bride days after saying “I do”.. because that’s a particular trait too far for my alpha heroes.. I like them redeemable bad brooding brutes.. not skank cheating bastards.

Worth a credit? Sadly it’s a no.. this story, for me, wasn’t a good fit and I’ll be asking for my credit back which is a shame because it, and the whole series, had potential.. but we’re all different and you may love it.

I love it!

This whole series is amazing! It’s one of my go to books when I am in a book slump. I loved listening to Luca and Aria’ story. Oh Luca❤️ I hope the other books will be on audible soon.

Not terrible..

(Spoiler???)

This book wasn't terrible, but it wasn't original either. It falls into the normal cliche of woman marries man because her father says so, they end up falling in love, One almost gets killed, they tell each other they love the other: then everything is hunky dory.

But what really got my eyes rolling was all the fuss when they do get together and her unnecessary whining over every little thing. For one, having grown up in this supposed mafia world, you would think she'd be use to the things going on and her knowing what her fate would be and not cry about it. That and perhaps know how to fight or defend herself or something.

On the other hand, I always fall for these cliches and Despite the annoying narration that made my ear want to bleed sometimes, I kinda enjoyed the book. I wouldn't mind getting the second book, as long as the narrator can chill out.

Too slow!!!

This story did not ring true as a Nadia book to me. The main character was born into the family and should not have been so innocent and ridiculously whiny. She should have had more of an edge living in this life. There also was not much of a story line. It was all about boring sex scenes with her and her constant complaining. The narrators voice also didn’t sell the story for me when she talked in Luca’s voice. I was underwhelmed and will not coming continue on with the series. It had so much potential and fell short.

Enjoyed the Story

I enjoyed the story and I like the characters but the narrator wasn’t my favorite I think that she didn’t do the story any justice.
Maybe the next book will have a different narrator and it will be more enjoyable to listen to.

I absolutely loved this story

it was dark romance without the fake aspect to it . I enjoyed the way you see the bad and unbelievable way things play out. I am so happy I took a chance and listened to myself instead of a review because it was great and I cant wait for the next book in the series !!!
