You are not weak. You are not broken. And you are not alone.

Over 280 million people worldwide live with depression. Millions more carry the relentless, unpredictable weight of bipolar disorder. And yet, far too many of them suffer in silence, convinced that what they feel is a personal failure, a character flaw, something to be hidden rather than healed.

BEYOND THE BLUE is a clear, compassionate, research-grounded guide to understanding what is truly happening inside the depressed and bipolar brain, and what can genuinely help.

This is not a book that talks at you from a distance. It is a lantern held steady in a dark room. Written with warmth, scientific clarity, and deep human compassion, it takes you inside the lived experience of depression and bipolar disorder and explains, in plain and honest language, what is actually happening in the brain, why it happens, and what can genuinely be done about it.

Inside, you will discover: What clinical depression really is, and why it is so much more than sadness.

The neuroscience of mood disorders, explained without jargon.

Why bipolar disorder is so often misdiagnosed for five to ten years, and what the consequences of that delay can be.

The roots of these conditions, from genetics and childhood to chronic stress and hormonal shifts.

A clear, evidence-based guide to treatment options that actually work.

How to support someone you love without losing yourself in the process.

Practical scripts for the conversations most people are afraid to start.

A self-assessment tool to help you recognize the signs in yourself.

Whether you are struggling yourself, supporting someone you love, or simply trying to understand what you have never been given the words to describe, this book will meet you exactly where you are.

You picked it up. That took courage. And courage, however quiet, is where all healing begins.

Scroll up and start listening today. The path forward is closer than you think!

This is a pretty scientific-heavy book but it's delivered in such a way by both author and narrator that makes it feel accessible. Lacoma talks us through everything in such a clear, measured and comforting way. I particularly appreciated the bonus chapter which tied everything together nicely and gave listeners a useful takeaway.

Fascinating and practical

My partner has bipolar and I think the subject matter covered in this book is really important for people to know. It is a delicate subject matter and is approached really well in this book. The narrator has also done an excellent job of approaching it with care and compassion, able to sound ike a friendly voice while staying professional

Well-written and informative
