Summary

The stunning sequel to Audible Original hit Deathbound, Bloodbound continues the epic tale of magic, loyalty, and revolution in the kingdom of Eynhallow.

Narrators Freya Mavor (Industry) and Jessie Mei Li (Shadow and Bone) return, and are joined by Iain Glen (Game of Thrones) and Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew)

Princess Ythsie and her squire Stroma are on the run, hunted by the Deathless and separated from everything they once knew. While Ythsie searches for a way to free the undead army that has plagued her kingdom for centuries, Stroma must choose between her oath to the princess and a growing revolution that promises to reshape Eynhallow forever.

But King Gillivrey's grip on the throne grows stronger by the day. As he amasses a new army and seeks a royal marriage to cement his power, time runs out for those who would oppose him. With the kingdom balanced on a knife's edge, even the strongest oaths may not be enough to prevent everything from falling apart.

I'm so happy the story continues and love to hear the additional cast. The world building and tension continue to keep me on my toes. The plot isn't as solid as in the first book but there are still very exciting scenes as well as great characters, I just wish it would move even slower, the in-between scenes and build up are the best part in my opinion!

My only complaint comes from Brahmas Character arc. Every time I hear Brahmas POV I'm close to skipping ahead because his character is so clueless and insufferable, I cannot relate with him at all, all he does is run around confused while crying. I wish his parts were written from the perspective of King Gilevry or another "evil" Character instead. (sorry if I wrote the names incorrectly)

Beautiful Audiobook 💝

I really enjoyed this and I think it was down to the narration, which, on top of a good story hits that sweet spot. I try and save books for walking, but I listened to this whenever I could. Looking forward to the next one.

Immersive story

I really hope to come back to this review and edit it but as it stands I have just finished Chapter Five of Bloodbound.
I was drawn to this book because it’s a Sapphic Fantasy which is what I love to read…
But already by the end of chapter 5 of Bloodbound there was more Steam between two men in this Chapter than there has been between the main women in book 1&2 so far.
I mean don’t get me wrong I also love a slow burn when it’s done right but we seem to have gone backwards at this point in the book.
As I said I hope to come back and change this review the further into the book I go.

Where’s the Sapphic Element

I felt like this part was filled in with love scenes rather than story line. I was a bit surprised by the behaviour of some the characters, It felt like a 180 for entertainment value. Overall ok and I'll still look out for the next parts.

Didn't enjoy this as much as the first.

Second outing visiting the Kingdom of Eynhallow and the story didn't disappoint. This time round we had more intrigue, magic and mayhem. Looking forward to part three already. The narration and sound production was excellent throughout.

Excellent all round
