One of the family is dead.
One of the family is missing.
And one of the family might just be the killer...

The outstanding psychological thriller from the 5 million copy-bestselling author of Here to Stay and The Magpies

Patrick couldn’t believe his luck when Holly fell for him. She’s wickedly funny, beautiful, and with an intimidatingly successful father, Charles.

So when she invites him to Charles’ mansion for a New Year’s break in Scotland, all he’s hoping is that they’ll accept him as one of the family.

But everything feels a little off. Whispers in hallways. Rumours of a body that got found nearby the previous year. And something very strange about Charles’ new girlfriend.

Every family has secrets, and Patrick tells himself all he needs to do is survive the next few days.

But then the first body is found, and Patrick realises that all he needs to do is survive the next few days…

Perfect for fans of Succession, this tale of lies, ambition and murder in a toxic, wealthy family is a one-sitting read. It’s another surefire winner from a thriller writer at the top of his game (CASS GREEN, author of The Woman Next Door)

I have been a huge fan of Mark Edwards books since the early days but I'm afraid for me anyway, this fell short of his usual high standards. None of the characters seem believable and none were likeable. I need to be able to root for one character in a book!

The plot was tight if far fetched, with lots of twists and turns and the ending was fast paced but not enough for me to really enjoy.

Disappointed

The twists and turns in this book are UNREAL! Just when you think you’ve worked it out … bang! 💥 honestly such a great listen, I would have given it 6 stars if I could have ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

He’s done it again!!

I usually enjoy books by this author but have stopped listening half way through this one because the level of irritation I feel at the narrator's constant dropping of "t" s ruins any enjoyment. Why would anyone think this is OK? Surely correct pronunciation is a must? It's not an accent or dialect, just a totally sloppy performance.

Irritating pronunciation.

Really enjoyed this book. Good story, great twists and plot but being from Scotland, the Scottish accent wasn't great, the only downside.

Gripping story
