From New York Times bestselling author and BookTok sensation Carissa Broadbent returns with a brand new novel in the Crowns of Nyaxia series, The Lion & the Deathless Dark—the first book in the Bloodborn Duet.

Some blood tastes like vengeance. Some blood tastes like grief. Some blood tastes like nothing at all.

Under an eternal night, the world has been ravaged by ten years of war between humans and vampires. Kyrene scrapes by as a bounty hunter, bearing a blessed sword from the goddess of justice. But in the wake of a devastating loss, Kyrene commits a crime that makes her a target for mortals and gods alike—and she is still desperate for vengeance.

Her only chance at survival—and revenge—is making a deal with her enemy, the silver-tongue vampire prince, Septimus, who offers her one final job: to slay the gods themselves.

Together, Kyrene and Septimus must hunt the ultimate marks, all while navigating a web of prophecies and curses. Septimus is calculating and mysterious, masking secrets bloodthirsty enough to consume them both. Yet, most dangerous of all, Kyrene finds an unexpected kinship in him.

But their growing attraction is deadly in a world where the only currency is blood. And Kyrene will stop at nothing to fulfill her ultimate goal: to kill the goddess of vampires, even if it means sacrificing love for revenge.

This was another amazing story in this series, so many twists and turns, and I’ve been excited for more Septimus ever since we first met him! Wonderful narration as well, all round just so good!

Great story, great narration!!

This story broke my damn heart. Amanda Leigh-Cobb did a spectacular job with this single narration & I ain’t even mad it’s not a duet. I loooved every second of this suspenseful plot driven story.

Oooooh My Goshhhh… how bloody good was this book?!?! Crazy good. In part 1 & 2 I’m drifting along gently with this story by the time we get to part 3 … hells bells that was the beginning of a level 10 Hurricane. 🌀 chokehold right up to the end.

It was nerve wracking, suspenseful and so emotional I had to struggle not to bit my tongue to hard, as I’m trying not to cry… because the connection between these these was second to nobody (they might even rival (Atrius & Selina)

Goodness: we finally find out why Nyaxia cursed the Bloodborn sect of the Vampires… (hip hip) I still don’t have no words for that drama… it was off -the-charts crazy reveal. There were so many moments I’ll be so anxious, next thing I’ll be so vex I’m actually cursing. Then afterwards I’ll be trying so hard not to cry because my heart is breaking. Emotions at an all time high. Because this is one of those stories you can’t even see what’s coming nor can you guess it either… so the reveals are mind blowing. And there were many to gasps over.
Be warned.

Omg it was sooooo good. Bestest slow burn ever. By the time the red- hot-chillie-peppers scenes happens the most beautiful on page connection ever!!

This book is going to live inside my head rent free for a loooong time. It was just so darn good.

Worth a credit, worth a listen.

Oh Boy … This right here, was Life itself ( 5 ✨ across the board)

I was lost for a little bit as i couldn't remember how the last book ended. As the book went on it reignited my memory though. Great 5th book. Looking forward to the next

Great 5th book

Better than the previous 2 books, nearly as good as the first two of the series. I really enjoyed this, Septimus was simply delicious and the banter was so entertaining!

Such a good book

I have been waiting for Septimus' book and I loved him, overall I really enjoy the Crowns of Nyaxia series but purely personal opinion I find them a little slow paced at times and my brain wanders off a bit, this one did ramp up nearer the end, I really enjoyed how the story ties in to all the previous books, didn't really see the final twists coming and am hoping for a HEA in the next book - it was well worth the listen for Septimus for me.

Septimus 💗
