About this listen

Contains the first four books in the Magical Fusion Series:

The Fusionist
Academic ConFusion
Aetheric InFusion
Global DifFusion

A young man and his axe, along with a magical life he never asked for…

Larek Holsten is different from most people, living in the Kingdom of Androthe where his 7-foot-tall frame is looked at with suspicion and anger from its shorter residents; but as long as it helps him become the best Logger he can be, he doesn’t let it bother him all that much. He and his best friend, an axe with a powerful Fusion that causes it to become sharper and stronger than a normal tool, are feared by the trees in the magical forest north of his home, as he can fell the quickly growing monoliths faster than anyone else in the community.

Unfortunately, after visiting the local village, a deliberate misunderstanding lands Larek in trouble; as a result, he is taken away from his family and the only home he has ever known. Along the way, his dormant magical potential is discovered by those more knowledgeable than him, and he is ordered to attend some sort of academy for Mages.

The problem? Contrary to many who might jump at the chance of wielding powerful magic to fight the monsters that threaten the towns and cities around the Kingdom, Larek has absolutely no desire to become a Mage, especially when he has no choice in the matter. All he wants is to be allowed to return home to his family and to chop down the trees in the Rushwood Forest.

But once he discovers a unique talent that stems from his newly unlocked latent power, he might just have to stick around to see what he can do…

This weak-to-strong MC story contains LitRPG elements such as character progression and statistics, as well as a heavy crafting emphasis. No explicit sexual content or harems.

Larek is a very naive, very sheltered, very anxious, and quite hated by the people of the Kingdom, 16 year-old, whose whole world consists of cutting wood. Until it doesn't. After finding out about his magical potential Larek is sent to study about magic...

The books are quite slow going but entertaining none the less. Think Harry Potter, but a bit less spels and more crafting.

Enchantment on steroids

Well, where do I start? I wasn't 100% convinced when I started this. I found the narrator a little slow and hard to listen to initially but soon became accoustomed to his particular voice. I am so glad I did perservere. A very odd but interesting main character. A very cool and interesting "Fusion" system that really is at the core of the series... A bigger plot line that is slowly revealed over the 4 books that helps to give context to the skills and capabilities of our main protagonist. I have 2-3 hours left to go of the complete first 4 books and have enjoyed the whole set. I will be going on to complete the whole series....

A slow start but I couldn't stop listening

I enjoyed the storyline no real problems other than the usual poor and unnecessary accents the repetition of stats which really only became annoying in the fourth book chapter 50 onwards with chapter 54 just stats stats stats.
To paraphrase a comment oft made in the book.... Short story extended long rather than to cut a long story short, there was far far too much minutiae in the book, the MC passes servant in the corridor and the author thought it desevered a breakdown of how each was feeling!!!! Why did the author not have a storyline on what was happening to the other characters while the main character was transported to another continent.
Oh why do the main characters in this genre seem to have Aspergers autism or ADHD why can't they just be relatively normal people why is there girl on girl action but no man an man action. ????

Rate it at 4.7 but Short story extended long
