Magically Unconventional

First of all, I must admit that I had a difficult time getting into this work. But looking back, I cannot think how else the author might have begun the story other than how he did. The second chapter was more interesting than the first, and by the third chapter, I was hooked. This is a tale of a young woman so filled with love that she has the power to change the lives (in a positive way) of all the people around her. Others might describe this novella as being about a menage a trois, and it is that. But mostly, it is simply about the magical power of love, real love, I mean (agape, not amour). There were several times in listening to this that I shed tears of pure joy. I'm really glad to have discovered this work. I recommend it highly.

Extremely well written, hilarious, heart warming

This story caught me off guard. I found myself able to relate and resonate deeply with the 3 main characters. Sometimes a tragedy can open doors to a whole new realm of passion and love... or maybe even 3. This book shook me to my core. I rode the highs of joy, serendipity, wander lust loving, free spirited youngsters who have the entire world as their oyster. RJ is not only an exceptional wordsmith but a linguistic artist. His descriptions and sensations that he paints in your mind will leave you wanting more... My only problem is when is the next book coming out? The story has inception undertones and will make you wonder why we take everything so seriously. Diving deep into the fleeting reality of these free souls will leave your mind twisting and turning. Give this book a listen.

Great doorway to step through

I always enjoy listening to an audiobook read by the author, there is something about the purpose and emphasis that can be missed when reading independently. The voice within this does exactly that.

I first read In the Room with Three Doors a couple of years ago as an eBook and fell in love with the writing and characters. I have thought about it many times since reading it and when I heard that the audiobook had been released I didn’t hesitate to escape into the stunning tones of a passionate narration.

This is a story which challenges a millennial culture and the social norms of life, carried by the wonderfully ethereal character of Rhi. A woman who is truly relatable as someone who people would both love and fear to have as a friend, pushing the boundaries of the status quo in life, inspiring the reader to seek more in their own lives also.

Written and read with wit and an eye for something more, this story allows for each mind to see snippets of where opportunities lie, what truth means to each person, how experience can form and when love truly opens doors.

Enjoyed it

I quite enjoyed this Audio Book. The line that has stuck in my head is the mobile phones being thrown, I just wish we could all do that.

The author has done the audio for this book, and you would think it was done by a big audio star like Stephen Fry.

This audiobooks is very worth getting, and I will track down and listen to the others as well.

So yes I recommend this book.

Interesting, but not my cup of tea

I had to leave it and come back again. The first chapters feature a tragic death. The grief and mourning is described in some detail. I found that too hard the first time, and skipped over some of it the next time... I did want to see how it ended.

This is mostly a coming of age story. It often strays into philosophical dialogues about true happiness, what matter in life, and the importance of ignoring other people’s opinions about how you live your life. There is a touch of the supernatural involved. And a non traditional 3-person relationship. All set in a new age venture that abandons the rat race in favour of a small town and togetherness. I was a bit surprised by the ending too. If you like characters who are unconventional and fight for the right to remain that way, then you will enjoy joining these characters on their meandering path to happiness.

Easy to listen to, and a very enjoyable tale.

Every now and again we come across a book that stands alone, this is one of them. With a soft lilt the author invites you into a modern day fable. Through the lives of a small cast, big issues are explored. When Rhiannon’s twin sister tragically dies at 25, Rhi becomes determined to live her life at full steam. She is ready to risk everything, including that heavy gilded cage of respectability. After expressing her love to Matt and Jamie she persuades them to up sticks in London and move to Watercress Farm in Hampshire. Her creativity and enthusiasm for life bubbles over to all she encounters. Chloe and Jake certainly have a lot to thank her for. As does Jamie’s father Luke. Luke’s life is one of regrets, he has money but lost his family in the process. Rhi sends him a red folder containing a business plan that any boardroom would laugh at and reject. The image of Sunflowers leaps up at him and the prospect of speculating on imagination means his heart is exposed to possibility - that, is something he can pour his money into, after all his dream of being a ftsy 100 director is never going to happen. What is important in life? Do we take stock and analysis where we are before it’s too late to change? Are we courageous enough to step out of the norm and move away from comfort? Work on the cress farm is hard, but none of them would go back to their old life. They will only move forward, where the wind may blow them. Life should be an adventure after all.

Passion and beauty in London and Hampshire

I like the energy the author expresses in the dialogue, which is contemporary, youthful and fast paced. Ths is coupled with a variety of poetic descriptions and unexpected events which connect the narrative arc in a meaningful way. An enjoyable listen over a few SprIng afternoons, thank you!

Did not finish this book

I'm really sorry but I just did not get this book at all. I tried and tried and kept re-listening to it to see if I had missed anything. It just didn't have a plot at all. The narration (the author) wasn't gripping, it was very monotone and didn't change at all for different characters. I couldn't even finish the book - this is something that is extremely rare for me. I went back and started it 4 times but after that I decided enough was enough. I was extremely shocked at the other reviews, most of them 5 stars? I even questioned that they were reviews for the same book.
