Jonas Quarrel has tracked Verity from Mexico to Northern California. Just what is he after?

Verity Ames finds herself fighting an attraction to Jonas from the moment he knocks on the door of the No Bull Cafe. He seems far too good to be true.

Together they will discover a shared passion and a shared danger.

I have read a number of books by this author and this was by far the worst. The book was written a long time ago. Some context for the hero’s behaviour would have helped set the scene if it had been given earlier in the book. The book seemed to take inspiration from the Taming of the Shrew but so badly written. Right from the start of their romance calling the heroine honey and sweetheart was just too sickening - this from a supposed 37 years old! The heroine was an innocent almost 30 year old with an acid tongue but totally naive to be taken in a wicked manipulative artist she had only known for a few hours. The hero’s controlling behaviour would never be toterated these days. I struggled to finish it and now makes me think again about more listens from this author.

So definitely dated
