About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Last Dog on Earth by Adrian J Walker, read by David John and Jonathan Aris.

Every dog has its day…

And for Lineker, a happy go lucky mongrel from Peckham, the day the world ends is his: finally a chance to prove to his owner just how loyal he can be.

Reg, an agoraphobic writer with an obsession for nineties football, plans to wait out the impending doom in his second floor flat, hiding himself away from the riots outside.

But when an abandoned orphan shows up in the stairwell of their building, Reg and Lineker must brave the outside in order to save not only the child, but themselves…

Superb narration. Wasn't expecting the emotional roller coaster! Wish I could gift this to everyone I know. Love it. Won't be long til I re-listen x

What an experience!

Overall I liked the characters & story & enjoyed the quirky slant on the post apocalyptic genre. I liked the way the main character developed along the way. My only criticism is the amount of swearing from the Lineker character. I am by no means a prude & am not offended by bad language in a book, however I thought it was more than necessary in this case, detracted from the story & narration, having said that, still a very good read.

A bit different

Loved the story even if a little slow sometimes. The accents were a bit dubious.

Great story. Some dodgy accents.

The best and most imaginative dog's eye view of the world I've read. Filthy mouthed hound, but the expression of a dog's feeling of purpose and experience of life that humans cannot appreciate was thought provoking.
The plot was a rattler with good character development, but as you can tell, the dog was by far the most well rounded character for me.

Fascinating

This is the best audio book story I’ve ever heard
Touching, moving visceral exciting sad and funny
I particularly loved listening to Linekar the dogs version of life love and everything in between
Another brilliant book by Adrian Walker
I’m sad it’s finished …but given time I’ll definitely read it or listen to it again one day like an old friend
