About this listen

Arriving home from a routine day at work, Anna Cottrell has no idea that her life is about to change forever. But discovering the stabbed body of a stranger in her flat then becoming prime suspect in a murder inquiry is only the beginning. Her persistent claims of innocence start to crumble when new evidence links her irrevocably with the victim....

Leading her first murder investigation, DCI Helen Lavery unravels a trail of deception, family secrets and betrayal. When people close to the Cottrell family start to disappear, Lavery is forced into a race against time. Can she catch the killer before he executes his ultimate victim?

The story was good until towards the end when it suddenly became rushed, as if the author had got bored of the whole thing and just wanted to finish it.

The narrator was extremely poor. She has a clear voice but her delivery and phrasing is very strange. She constantly hesitates and stumbles over words and frequently mispronounces words or says the wrong words - a couple of examples are ' the children were groaning up' (instead of growing up); referring to 'lits' instead of 'lists' and 'instant room' rather than 'incident room'. At one point she calls the main character 'Hannah' for a while instead of 'Anna'. The whole book is liberally peppered with these errors, at first I thought I had misheard them so I replayed to check then I gave up checking. It distracted a great deal from the story.

I can't believe that the producer/editor actually released this audio book with so many errors in it.

Extremely poor narration
