Summary
Criminal barrister Charles Holborne may have just escaped the hangman by proving he was framed for murder, but his life is now in ruins. His wife is dead, his high-flying career has morphed into criminal notoriety, and bankruptcy threatens. When the biggest brief of Charles' career unexpectedly lands on his desk, it looks as if he has been thrown a lifeline. Book 2 nailed and can't wait to read more
What can I say that I haven't already said. I absolutely loved the second story. It has everything from gruesome crimes, courtroom battles, romance, fascinating insights into family dynamics, humour sometimes very dark and loosely based on true life crimes and the life and times of the krays. I am really enjoying seeing the chatacters relationships develop and new characters come into the story. The narrator Colin Mace brings the story and the characters alive so vividly. His obvious talent with accents is the best I have heard in any audible book. I forgot it was a work of fiction. Onto number 3

Excellent narration, brilliant story
Loved it, I really enjoy these books. I love stories set in old London. I love the characters, the settings, the story lines. I also very much enjoyed the ending too!

Enjoyable easy listen
Charles Holborn is growing on me. I’ve enjoyed both of these books and would listen to a third (if there is one).
The characters are likeable - even the rogues.
