As the vice president of a club on the brink of war with a president newly in love with the killer who got them in this mess in the first place, James Hartley takes on too many responsibilities to handle alone. Which is how he finds himself teaming up with the most relentlessly cheery anomaly he’s ever met.

Sadie Oliver has only ever wanted to be whoever her people need her to be. If that’s a spy to keep her best friend alive, then just call her Jason Bourne. But it quickly becomes clear she’s out of her depth, so who better to have as a partner than the surly man who can’t seem to keep his eyes off her? Everything they love is hanging in the balance, but neither James nor Sadie can be prepared for what they’ll face next. Or how facing it together could be the undoing they’re desperate to avoid.

The story is fantastic, Madison lawson has written a great series. I love the biker/seemingly innocent women dynamic, the protection they offer to their women and the love they feel for the whole family of bikers.
The 1st book A deal with the reaper was absolute fire with both story and narration but I was slightly disappointed with the female narrator on this book.
James Cassidy does an absolute fantastic job with James, he really does the dark so well, he knows how to use the silence between lines to keep the tension.
Lucy Rivers however I was disappointed with her performance It felt like she was reading to a bunch of children, theres too much upward inflection in the narration. She was too bright n shiny for a dark story, too polished and performed with no emotional timing. if you can get passed this you will enjoy the story. But this spoiled the story somewhat for me but James C saved it mostly.
The spice is very good 😉 I will finish the story with the 3rd book, but I hope they consider another female narrator I need to fully immerse myself in story and narrator when reading, this was a little harder because of the narrator.

Fantastic story, female narrator not so good, I'll explain why ⬇️

Loved this second book in this series, very different from the first but continues the same pattern of great characters and strong story. Can’t wait for the next one
