About this listen

Because in the darkest days of the Blitz, love is more important than ever.

It’s February 1942, and as the Americans finally join Britain and her allies, 23-year-old Francesca Fabrino is doing her bit for the war effort in a factory in East London. But her thoughts are constantly occupied by recently married Charlie Brogan, who is fighting in North Africa with the Eighth Army.

When Francesca starts a new job for the BBC Overseas department, she meets handsome Count Leo D’Angelo and begins to put her hopeless love for Charlie aside. But then Charlie returns from the front, his marriage in ruins and his heart burning for Francesca at last. Could she, a good Catholic girl, countenance an affair with the man she has always longed for? Or should she choose Leo and a different, less dangerous path?

Absolutely brilliant! Catching up with the Brogan family put a smile on my face. Hopefully there will be another instalment to these books.
Also thank you to Annie Aldington who knows how to narrate all of Jeans books. Annie is the only narrator to bring all the family and friends to life. Many thanks for all your hard work.

I didn’t want the audiobook book to end.

Absolutely loved this book and another great addition in the ration book series. I enjoyed listening to the continued story of the Brogan family and the narrator is easy to listen to.

Another great book

Great book, my favourite so far. the character Stella is a good character even though she is fly by night she is a gritty character and these books show people are just not always perfect they have nasty streaks.

this one is a bit more gritty.
