 題名の『十二夜』とは、クリスマスから十二日目(つまり1月6日の夜のことで、イエス生誕に際して当方の三博士が訪ねてきた日とされている。西洋では、新年祝いの締めとなる盛大な宴が催され、この劇はその余興で初演されたと古くは考えられていたようだ。 ただ、単ににぎやかなだけでなく、十二夜には、寂しい冬を前にした最後の華やかさ、というイメージもある。 伝統としては、祝日の無礼講=愚考がモチーフにあり、イタリアの笑劇や、北欧を中心に栄えた愚人文学が裏にあると言われており。賢そうな奴が愚かで、愚かそうな奴が賢い、ということで、(主導権を握るロザリンドに比べて)ヴァイオラは身動きがとれず、結果として愚かそうな大公や女主人が得をしているのは、そういうことなのかもしれない。 本作は、コミカルに各キャラクターを描きつつ、ヴァイオラのみをストレートプレーで演出することで、作品としての大枠を表現しているが、物語の側面を各キャラクターの視点から聴くことで、裏のテーマが見えてくるだろう。 【CAST】 豊岡聡仁、 安田愛実、 西村健志、 長谷川ゆみ、 宮負潤、 佐藤充、 幸本たつと、 【音楽・監修】 谷真人(C)Panrolling 2014 Classics
