Summary

Grace Sherman
204 Rosewood Lane
Cedar Cove, Washington

Dear Listener,

If you've been to Cedar Cove before, we've probably met. You can usually find me either at home or at the public library, where I work. I've lived in this town all my life and raised two daughters here. But my husband and I - well, about six months ago, he disappeared. Just...disappeared. Where's Dan? Why did he go? Who's he with? Will I ever find out?

My hometown, my family and friends, bring me comfort during this difficult time. Comfort and a sense of shelter. I'm continually reminded that life can and does go on. For instance, everyone's been discussing weddings and babies lately. Justine - the only daughter of my best friend, Olivia Lockhart - impulsively got married a little while ago. My own daughter Kelly recently had a baby. Unfortunately, she refuses to accept that Dan might not return to see his first grandchild. My older daughter, Maryellen, is more realistic. I think she's seeing a new man, but for some reason she won't tell me who it is.

Then there's Jack, who's been pursuing a romance with Olivia, and his son, Eric, and Eric's girlfriend, Shelly (I think she's pregnant), and Zach and Rosemary Cox, whose marriage is reputedly on the skids and...Well, just come on over and we'll talk

Grace

It's all in the voice

Would you try another book written by Debbie Macomber or narrated by Sandra Burr?

The story is great for losing yourself for a while but spoilt by the narrator. She lapsed into a patronising style as if reading to someone with low understanding. Also, she really can't do voices !!

What did you like best about this story?

It's not challenging but it doesn't need to be. I sometimes need an escape route and these stories are it.

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Sandra Burr?

It's not an easy job, I know, but please choose someone better. Maybe the author herself ?

Could you see 204 Rosewood Lane being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

I've seen the TV series of Cedar Cove (from the Debbie Macomber books) and it translate beautifully. More please !

Down the Street in Cedar Cove

I really enjoyed the second in the Cedar Cove series, although not quite as much as the first one, and I think it's because I do agree with other listeners that there's a bit too much going on to keep track of it all. Nonetheless, I can't help but care about and grow attached to the folks in Cedar Cove. I was glad that Dan's disappearance was resolved. The ending was a bit abrupt, I was wishing for a few more answers in 204 Rosewood Lane, but it won't stop me from moving on to Book 3 in the series. I love Debbie Macomber's writing and find that her books are a welcome change for me after I've listened to heavier fare, such as murder mysteries or war stories. They are always centered around family, which I greatly appreciate.

Just my opinion

The only thing I can say is I didn't finish this. Maybe someday I will give it another shot. I try really hard not to write a reveiw that contains spoilers, but this just cant be helped. You have a woman from the first book who is strong and does things that are jaded on the surface to supposedly protect her heart, then of course ends up with the perfect guy in the end. Then in the second book here, she thinks "oh its ok to go off to private lunches with the guy everyone in town thought she was sleeping with , while her new husband is off on business, he wont mind. Come on.....REALLY!! Younger readers won't get this anology, but it made me feel like when I said I would never watch Dallas again if Sue Ellen went back to J.R. AGAIN!! By the way I never did watch it again LOL.

Boring story

I keep trying this series in hopes it will get exciting. This is the last one for me. Just boring and the reader is machine like with the men sounding like elves. I just can’t do it anymore.
