Summary

Discover MILLION-COPY BESTSELLER Jessica Redland's uplifting series, Welcome to Whitsborough Bay.

For Clare O’Connell, home is where the heart aches…

Since the age of sixteen, Clare O'Connell has lived her life by four strict rules:

  1. Don't talk about Ireland
  2. Don't think about Ireland
  3. Don't go to Ireland
  4. Don't let anyone in

And so far, it's worked well. She's got a great career, amazing friends, and she's really happy. The future is all that counts, isn't it?

However Clare is about to realise that you can run from the past, but you can't always hide from it…

When her boss insists she travels to Ireland for work, Clare finds herself drawn back to the village of Ballykielty – the home of her family, and the home of her secrets. The one place where vowed never to return to again…

With the door to her past now wide open, the first three rules have gone out of the window. Will Clare stick to rule number four?

Can she be brave and face up to her family and the demons of her past?

An emotional novel of family, friendship and dealing with your past from top 10 bestseller Jessica Redland.

Jessica Redland’s Whitsborough Bay series gets better and better with every book. Each book digs more deeply into life’s challenges and how each character faces them. The threads of community from book to book are beautifully intertwined without ever feeling over explained to regular readers or exclusionary to one off readers. I adore this series and don’t ever want it to stop.
Special mention also to narrator Lucy Brownhill. I value the individuality she brings to each character and the faithfulness of their voices - making them easily distinguishable people when listening to the dialogue-rich audiobook. Lucy’s narration is eager, she always sounds interested in what she’s reading/performing, she sounds as emotionally invested in the characters as I am hearing about them. This is a hugely valuable asset to an audiobook. Thank you to Jessica and Lucy for bringing this wonderful community of characters to life.

I’ve listened to 4-5 books by Jessica Redland and I think this is my favourite so far although they are all so so good!
Definitely a reoccurring pattern in her books is a rubbish mother figure. They range from alcoholic/neglectful/aggressive/hateful/abusive to clinically depressed or just plain nasty, which makes me wonder about the writer’s own mother and the pain she might have gone through. She definitely has deep knowledge of the subject <3
This book is so deep, so well-written and sooo good, weeks after listening to it I’m still thinking about it! I really enjoyed this book, another outstanding performance by the very talented Lucy Brownhill. Thank you

Probably my favourite Jessica Redland book so far
