"And see if there's any news about the missing girl."

Life, as Smith used to say, is just one thing after another - as one investigation ends, a new one begins. But for reasons unknown to the rest of her team, DCI Cara Freeman will be haunted by the next case for the Kings Lake Central murder squad. They find themselves delving into the seamy side of life in the town, and one of their number will have departed before this new investigation is over. Perhaps Detective Sergeant Chris Waters should have seen it coming, but he has a lot more than work on his mind these days.

A must listen this series just keeps getting better and better. Keeps you in the loop with DC as well as all the other characters. Can't wait for the next one.

Peter Grainger has to be one of my favourite writers. His tales are so very believable and well informed that you are pulled away from the mundane world and into his . Its not glamorous or pretty but you feel a liking for the characters.

very convincingly written beautifully read

Yet another lovely book even though the theme is a hard one to listen to and consider. Once again the sensitivity and humour is outstanding and speaks of someone with a great deal of life experience. The ending of this author’s books is always a tear jerker and this is no exception. It always leaves me wanting* more. Just excellent and so satisfying.

Just perfect

A predictable tale but beautifully read with characters who hold interest. Cliched in parts but I didn’t mind that as I was absorbed all the way through

I love his characters
