Summary

As the first anniversary of the formation of the Kings Lake murder squad approaches, there is a problem—they've run out of murders. As a result, they are given the task of reviewing unsolved cold cases. One of these comes back to life in unexpected ways as the team try to discover the identity of the young woman whose body was found in the Norfolk countryside two decades ago. And even if they can give her a name, how can they possibly find her killer after so many years?

Always wonderful!!

The only thing I wish is that Peter Grainger could write these quicker and that Gildart Jackson would be available to perform them!!

Superb!

For anyone out there who loves detective stories these are a must. The stories are enthralling and the narration is magnificent, Audible you need to trumpet these more loudly! Love, love, love them.

Brilliant as always

Another Lake story, of chracters you will want to know, written and read with aplomb. I have loved every one if these books and hope to be able listen to them all again sometime in the future. Thank you Mr Peter Grainger for a beautifully written and researched book about characters you want to know, (and a couple you'd like to slap!) and another twisty tale lovingly laid out and the pathways for us to follow, and for the many superlative voices of the narrator, Mr Gildart Jackson

Love these books.

I don’t really like writing reviews, as we all have such diverse opinions and one man’s wine is another man’s poison. I personally love Peter Grainger books so much. I’ve listened to every one of them, except the
one where D.I. Smith goes to Ireland….don’t really know why I don’t fancy that one🤷‍♀️ If you are after a detective book with blood, guts and gratuitous violence then this is not for you! The storyline in my opinion is quite like the tv series of Lewis, Morse, Frost, Vera. I hope that Peter is already writing another follow up, can’t wait. The narrator Gildart Jackson is a superb reader, he cannot be replaced!

Kings Lake!

The King’s Lake books just get better and better with every one. I love the fact that there’s interwoven backstories through them all. The main stories themselves are genius and I’ve not managed to guess “who did it” in any of them yet!
Such excellent storytelling, I hope they continue for a long time to come.

Love this series

Cold case this time and no DC Smith ,just echos Of him . I enjoyed this very much . The cold case was intriguing, hope he writes more of them . Maybe DC could come out of retirement and assist on the next one . Beautifully narrated by Gildart Jackson as always .

Great Story

Great story ruined by the most appalling Welsh accent it's ever been my misfortune to hear.
Bad writing using South Walian idioms in the middle of Snowdonia where you can't get any more North Walian. We don't use "tidy". I have no idea what place name you were trying to say but you said it over and over and over pronouncing it completely wrongly I was nearly screaming at you to do your homework and use the propper language or don't use Welsh locations.
such a shame as I have thoroughly enjoyed the restvof the books in the series.

I Guess it had to happen

I have read and enjoyed each of the DC Smith and Kings Lake books and even had the date marked in my diary for when this one was coming out. However, this book isn't really a patch on any of the others, long drawn out descriptions of the loving couple meeting her parents and many other fillers just go to almost exagerate the lack of real story behind this one. The other books have never needed to delve too deeply into the personal lives of the main characters because they were well thought out and planned. This one, not so much really.
I do hope that the race to get things finished will slow down a little before the next book, but then, as ever, it could just be me!
