Summary
The new edge-of-your-seat novel in the thrilling Spider Shepherd series
Who can you trust if you can't trust the people tasked with protecting the nation?
Murderous jihadists have been crossing the English Channel, passing themselves off as asylum seekers. MI5 have been keeping them under surveillance, but what starts as a simple terrorist takedown goes badly wrong, and dozens of innocent civilians are killed in the heart of London.
And the screw is tightened when a bomb takes out senior members of the Secret Intelligence Service.
Someone within the security services has been working to their own agenda, and only Dan 'Spider' Shepherd can identify the bad apple. His search for the rogue agent takes him to Turkey and then to Dubai, where his masters order him to carry out a breathtaking act of revenge.

A superb listen
Another brilliant read from the master himself. Stephen Leather once again excels in this the 18th Spider Shepherd book. Fast paced and edge of the seat stuff from start to finish. Having read all the Spider books it's hard to choose a favourite but this one would be in my top 3 definitely. Great to see Charlotte Button and Lex Harper still around to assist too. Another master Mr Paul Thornley is once again brilliant in his narration of the book, if anything deserves 10 stars this is a case in point in my opinion. Highly recommended read.☺

Fast track
Stephen if you read These, please I’ve been listening to the series consecutively, please make a decision on where Lex is from? We’ve had cockney Lex, Scottish Lex and now Scouse Lex? The stories of spider and Co are really good and love the series. But this really frigging bugs me. For what it’s worth if anybody else has noticed this. I prefer Scottish lex. 😂

Ummmmm not as good as previous 17
I love Dan S & have been with him all the way, the research is first class as always, however, it’s perhaps time to retire him, I assume as SL has done a book around Last man “Standing” & Richard Yoakley it probably is about time 👍🏻 Nevertheless Dan “Spider” Shepherded, it’s been a blast 👍🏻

Oh dear. I couldn’t finish it
So disappointed. I have thoroughly enjoyed previous books in this series. However in this one, the plot meandered, there was a lot of padding via unnecessary description and dialogue. The plot just lacked focus and did not keep me engaged as previous books have. Paul Thornley’s narration nevertheless is still great.
