Stephen Leather is back with another white-knuckle thriller, and fans of his iconic character, Dan "Spider" Shepherd, won't be disappointed. In Last Chance, Leather once again proves why he's a master of the espionage genre, delivering a high-stakes, action-packed story that feels ripped from the headlines.
This time, Spider is tasked with taking down a global cabal of assassins known as "The Office," who are carrying out hits for the Iranian government. The plot is relentless from the very first page, with a series of brutal murders in London forcing MI5 to deploy their most dangerous weapon: Spider Shepherd himself.
What makes this book so compelling is Leather's signature blend of authenticity and heart-pounding suspense. He dives deep into the world of intelligence gathering and covert operations, making the reader feel like an insider. The action is gritty and visceral, but it's the personal stakes that truly hook you. As Spider infiltrates this shadowy organization, he's forced to confront just how far he's willing to go in the name of justice, making for a thrilling and thought-provoking read.
If you're a long-time fan, this is an excellent addition to the Spider Shepherd series that keeps the momentum going strong. If you're new to Stephen Leather's work, this is a fantastic entry point that will have you hooked and craving more. Grab a copy, because once you start, you won't be able to put it down.

Steven Leather has outdone himself with this gripping, fast-paced thriller that feels incredibly real, relevant, and bang up-to-date. The storyline tackles modern threats in a way that’s both believable and chilling, showing once again why Spider Shepherd is one of the most compelling characters in British crime fiction.

The attention to detail is second to none, and the twists kept me hooked from start to finish. It's not just action-packed — it’s smart, timely, and reflects today’s complex world in a way few thrillers manage.

Massive credit also goes to Paul Thornley, whose narration once again brings Spider to life brilliantly. His performance adds depth and intensity to an already outstanding book.

Well done Steven and Paul — absolutely amazing. If you're a fan of the series, or even just great thrillers, this is a must-read. 🔥📚
