About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

What do you do when your relationship suddenly ends? How do you cope when the cosy 'coupley' future you had planned disappears?

Join comedian Helen Thorn from The Scummy Mummies as she haphazardly takes the plunge into single life for the first time in twenty-two years.

Helen shares her own roller coaster journey from the initial shock of a surprise separation, the messy months hanging out in her PJs through to the highs of rediscovering online dating, tiny pants, rock-solid female friendships and the glorious joy of just being by herself.

With the help of relationship experts and an army of women "who know", Get Divorced, Be Happy will show you that going it alone isn't the end, it is just the beginning, and you will come out the other side, stronger, happier and goddamn sassier than ever before.

'Helen is the woman I want in my life when the shit hits the fan' - Bryony Gordon

Critic reviews

A big hug in a book for anyone going through separation or divorce
Helen is the woman I want in my life when the shit hits the fan. She makes me smile, even at the darkest of times
Brutally honest and frequently hilarious
Like a best mate in a book to guide you through hell - and out the other side via belly laughs, firefighters and finding joy in a new way of living
Helen is a superwoman. She is honest, open and makes us giggle without making us feel guilty for laughing. Her heart is full of love
It's not over when it's over - what you need to know is here
The one thing I needed in the wake of my divorce was hope - Helen's book slathers a big dollop of happy-salve onto the wounds you may be trying to heal

Loved it, loved Helen's story telling and her no nonsense language (had to turn it down a couple of times!) I'm married, have no intention of divorcing but this book has helped me to see that I can ask for what I want and to do more for myself and the benefits will be good for everyone in the long term. It is very funny too. Helen is a mate we all wished we had.

A must listen for all women and men too!

Absolutely loved this book. Its so incredibly well read by Helen and is funny, informative and heartfelt in equal measure.

I throughly enjoyed learning about Helen's experience and the empowerment and confidence she has gained from getting divorced and becoming a single parent.

This book is for everyone wanting to gain a new perspective on a subject than often isn't talked about and considered taboo.

Binged in a few days, highly recommend!

I am a big fan of the Scummy Mummies, feel like I really relate to their experiences. Helen is half of this duo, narrates this, and her book gives such a genuine insight into relationships, the heartache and the positive transformation that will happen if your relationship ends. At its core is the importance of the relationship one has with themselves. This is well worth a listen, whatever your circumstances. It made me cry and laugh out loud!!!
