Working from recently discovered files left by his father, Brian Herbert and best-selling novelist Kevin J. Anderson bring us Dune: House Atreides, the prequel, which captures all the complexity and grand themes of the original work while weaving a new tapestry of great passion and momentous destiny into a saga that expands the tale written by Frank Herbert more than thirty years ago.

It is the year 10,154 of the Imperial Calendar, and for four decades the planet Arrakis - called Dune by its inhabitants - has been ruled by the Harkonnen family. But the seeds of change have been sown. On Arrakis, an idealistic young planetologist, Pardot Kynes, goes out into the desert to learn the secrets of its giant sandworms and the priceless Spice they create. And on another planet, Caledon, young Leto Atreides is nearly ready to become duke. The blood feud between House Atreides and House Harkonnen is about to begin. Drawing on notes, outlines and correspondence Frank Herbert left behind at his death, House Atreides is a breathtaking story of war, treachery, decadence and steadfastness in the face of overwhelming odds Science Fiction

Enjoyed this immensely. I hope they will be brave enough to go it alone as there is so much more exploration of the characters and storylines brought up that need to be concluded before getting to the first Dune novel.

Didn’t want it to end

I loved every second of this book. Not only was it wonderfully written, but it was wonderfully narrated. If you’re a fan of the series, or if you’re just getting into it, you can’t go wrong with this book.

An absolute must!!

Truly exceptional. Haven't read Frank Herbert's Dune, so progressing through this series first. Excellent worldbuilding. Can't wait to read all 3 books of prelude.

I enjoyed reading these three books when they were released. I've enjoyed them as much in audiobook format. A fantastic story, adding to the rich tapestry of Dune. My thanks to both authors.

Excellent narration by Scott Brick, each character has their own voice, superb!

A fantastic prelude.

Great story telling.
Haven’t read original dune series, but didn’t feel like I needed to. This prequel stands on its own.

Couldn’t stop listening.
