Audible Off-Mic Workshops
Now open for applications

Audible recognises and values the impact that diversifying off-mic talent has to the audio industry and is committed to making progress in this area.

Multitrack is a charity working towards a more inclusive and accessible audio industry. Our award-winning Multitrack Fellowship programme provides development opportunities for people from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the sector.

Audible and Multitrack have teamed up to launch a season of workshops in early 2024. The workshops are free to attend and will offer training on a variety of different off-mic roles, delivered by experts from across the audio sector.

These workshops are for individuals across the UK that face barriers on entering the industry because they are: Black, Asian or ethnically diverse applicants; LGBTQIA+; those from lower socio-economic backgrounds; and people with disabilities.

We’re looking for applications from people who are looking for opportunities to develop their skills in audio production-focused roles.

Each workshop will focus on an off-mic skill including production, sound design, directing and editing. This is not a programme for those wanting to be presenters or on mic-talent. Applicants must be 18 or over who are residents of the United Kingdom.

Why are Audible and Multitrack Doing This?

Multitrack creates opportunities for people who are underrepresented in the audio industry. We think people from all backgrounds should have an equal chance to build a career in radio and podcast production in the UK. We don’t just want to open doors. The audio industry must embrace change from the top down, to create environments where people from all backgrounds can love their work, be heard and build the careers they want.

Audible takes its responsibilities as part of the UK’s audio industry very seriously. We know that greater representation in our output is important to our current and future audiences, and that we can help to shape the wider culture of the UK through the content we produce. Therefore, we want to ensure that our output reflects all the communities of the UK accurately and authentically, with an emphasis on reflecting under-represented communities, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
