Hi there,
My author's name is Vinson Chard, which is my nom de plume. Yes the spelling of Vinson is correct and was my father's name. I am 62, living in Swansea South Wales, a retired Chemical Engineer.
Originally from a small South Wales Valley town called Ebbw Vale and from a working class background. In later life,I attended University at Swansea and fell in love with the coastal city. Although a few years transpired before I eventually fulfilled my wish returning to become a 'Swansea Jack.' in the new millennium.
Married to my third wife Christine, We have three children, Leigh, Rhian, and Johnny, We also have seven grandchildren one dog and a cat.
Throughout my life I have enjoyed observing people and events, basically, I have always been a frustrated writer.
Friends and relatives encouraged me to write about the stories I often told of my time in industry. The result, my first book 'Life'Rich Mix' was published in December 2012 thanks to New Generation Press.
It tells of my early days working in industry during the seventies. beginning with my time working throughout the summer holidays in a local steelworks and the people I worked with. Also of my time working for the DHSS with a gorgeous woman named Myfannwy who appeared to be unaware she was a pyromaniac.
The book moves onto my time working for a company manufacturing cardboard boxes and how I indulged in an affair with a young married girl who worked there as my assistant.
After leaving the I joined a company recycling industrial oils, then, after a few years,joined an electroplating company where I was later made redundant. The book ends there with me about to embark on a new decade and career.
Currently, I am writing my second book titled 'Waste Or What?'which jumps to the nineties and tells of my time working for the hazardous waste industry and the duplicitous characters I came across. It also tells of demonstrations trying to close the treatment plant and of Company Directors brawling in a prestigious Cardiff hotel. Getting involved in other litigious battles with local councils.Managers getting involved in affairs and a plethora of wonderful characters. The book ends with me leaving the company to join another waste company specializing in high temperature incineration and joining the elite department called 'Special Operations,' travelling the United Kingdom and the world handling toxic wastes such as pesticides and PCB. Which is the source of the material for my third book ' What More Waste?'
