Although I was born in Texas, I have lived in Florida long enough to consider myself a naturalized Floridian. I always loved to read. I have early memories of devouring Nancy Drew mysteries and getting in trouble for reading through the night to one of those plastic wicker-look bird house night lights that hung over the head of my bed. I earned a degree in English Education, but never taught, but I did do a bit of one-on-one tutoring. I was also interested in art, and went back to study graphic arts, and this was the field I worked in for many years. However, music was my first love. After leading my church choir for 20+ years, I lost my voice due to meds I have to take and had to give it up. I absolutely love to travel. I sometimes think I'm not truly alive unless I'm traveling. Come to think of it, all my books include some trips. I guess it's the closest I can get to traveling when I'm not. Ireland is my favorite destination, as is my husband's. Needing another creative outlet, I turned to writing. It was something I always thought I'd get around to eventually, as I'd always excelled in English classes in high school and college. In the 9th grade, I wrote a story for the school newspaper, after which my English teacher asked if I'd thought about becoming a writer. I managed to finish my first novel somehow while still working. I am blessedly retired now and able to write at will.
