Uriah Rowland is the pen name of Amy Rowland who was born and raised in beautiful Northern California, in the small town of Burney. Born with a severe learning disability, Amy struggled to learn to read and write and could not read above a first-grade level until the age of 13 when her brain suddenly "clicked". Despite this, Amy had always wanted to be a writer and told the adults in her life that writing was her aspiration. Well-meaning teachers would attempt to dissuade her, but she persisted and was determined to write, even if she were the only one to ever read or understand what she wrote. Amy strongly believes in the undying perseverance of the human spirit, a lessen she has learned time and time again throughout her own difficult life when it seemed like the odds were stacked against her. She believes that our strength as individuals centers on our ability to empathize and connect with other human beings and that our emotional diversity is our greatest superpower. These sentiments can be seen her writing as she depicts trauma, love, loss, abandonment and redemption through her complex characters. Amy currently lives in Redding, California and is working on two more books which she hopes to release in 2025.
