Tracy Viola, M.Ed., is an author and professional speaker who says out loud what everyone else is thinking but won’t.

After alcohol and drugs led her to homelessness at 19, she committed to recovery one day at a time — a decision made in February 1996, more than 30 years ago. That choice took her from a 1.4 GPA to honors at Villanova, a master’s in counseling psychology at Temple, further study at Penn, and the company she still runs today.

She combines lived experience with academic training to speak from the trenches, not from theory. Her message is simple: change is possible, but there are no shortcuts — only choices. Through the Trash Can, Fault vs. Responsibility, the Yellow Light, and the Next Right Decision, she helps teenagers, parents, and people in recovery stop avoiding discomfort and start doing the work.

Her debut memoir is Pretty Wrecked.
