George Lee (“Tony”) Mozingo, a native of Fairfax, Virginia, joined the FBI as a Special Agent in the late 1970s, investigating high-profile counterintelligence cases in Washington, DC, and San Francisco, California, following early assignments in Buffalo, New York and Boston, Massachusetts. He spent his final decade leading the Monterey Resident Agency in California. Throughout his distinguished career, which followed earning his BA degree from the University of Virginia and marrying his fraternity sweetheart, Mozingo’s unwavering commitment to national security was underpinned by a deep fascination with philosophy. From tackling murder-for-hire to probing bank fraud and Soviet counterintelligence, his contributions to safeguarding America from domestic and international threats highlight a life devoted to patriotism and service.
