Toluse "Tolu" Olorunnipa is the White House Bureau Chief of The Washington Post, and the co-author of "His Name is George Floyd," winner of the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction. He joined The Post in 2019 and has covered the last three presidents. Previously, he spent five years at Bloomberg News, where he reported on politics and policy from Washington and Florida. Olorunnipa has reported from five continents and more than 25 countries as part of the presidential press corps. The son of Nigerian immigrants, he grew up in Tallahassee, Florida, and started his journalism career at the Miami Herald. Honors and Awards include: 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction, 2023 Pulitzer Finalist for Biography, 2022 National Book Awards finalist, 2023 Lukas Book Prize Finalist, 2023 LA Times Book Prize Finalist, 2023 Dayton Literary Peace Prize, 2022 BCALA Honor Award, 2021 George Polk Award for Justice Reporting, 2021 Peabody Award, 2021 Shaufler Prize from Arizona State University.
