Texi Smith is rare breed - an Australian author of football fiction. Born a Newcastle United fan in the North East of England and having lived and worked in France in the 1990s, the Australian dream began in 1999 and Sydney has been his home since then. Now an accredited FIFA, A-League and Football NSW journalist and photographer, writing has become a way of life, and the journey as an author has only just begun. Six published novels and one non-fiction book, he is now an established author with a fast-paced and punchy writing style. Texi plays Over 45s football and referees in winter and plays five-a-side in summer, he is an ardent fan of the Socceroos and Matildas and is a Sydney FC member in Cove Heights. He is quite happy not being the most talented football player in his family, or even the biggest fan. Away from football, Texi manages a busy IT consultancy, loves to snowboard and you should ask him how many Sydney marathons he has run now. You would think he'd be fitter than he actually is.
