If you are meeting me for the first time, welcome. My novels are not really about genre. Instead, they introduce readers to characters they'd love to invite to lunch - women who refuse to be diminished by the life they were handed. These women have to decide whether to hold it together or let it break.

Start with Daughters of Green Mountain Gap if you want three generations of Appalachian women who each believe they know what is best for the others, answering the question, what happens when neither tradition nor science can save the ones you love?

Go to An Enemy Like Me if you want a German American father who enlists to prove his loyalty, a wife left behind to hold the family together, and the son who grows up with a man who came home but never really returned. The war is the setting, but what war does to family is the story.

Read Sunflowers Beneath the Snow if you want the same tenacity in Soviet Ukraine, with three generations of women carrying the consequences of one man's rebellion.

Then Peg, Unhinged, for the midlife woman holding everything together with duct tape and dark humor. This humorous look at menopause answers the question, what happens when you stop being super woman and discover what is underneath?

If you rode with us, or want to, 10 Little Rules for a Double Butted Adventure contains lessons I learned on a 3,102 mile tandem bicycle journey - a ride that taught me that I'm more capable than I realized and helped me heal from a 14-year abusive marriage.

And if there is a grandchild in your life, Little Lola and Her Big Dream is one of the rules I learned from my ride - dream big and never let anyone tell you that it isn't possible!
