T.S. Burns was born in Dunoon, Scotland, and moved to Virginia with his family at just six months of age. He spent his early years in Virginia Beach before moving to Dexter, Missouri, when he was thirteen. In southeast Missouri, Burns became fascinated by the stories and legends surrounding a nearby forest known as The Boogie Woods. Local tales spoke of ghosts, witches, unsolved murders, and mysterious creatures lurking in the shadows. Among the most enduring legends was that of MoMo, Missouri's legendary Bigfoot. Those stories sparked a lifelong fascination with mystery, folklore, and the unknown. After high school, Burns joined the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Shenandoah from 1985 to 1989. Following his military service, he returned to Missouri and later earned a degree in Business from Ashford University. A husband, father of six, and lifelong storyteller, Burns eventually turned his passion for local legends into writing. Drawing inspiration from the stories his grandmother told him as a child and the folklore of southeast Missouri, he wrote The Beasts of the Boogie Woods, bringing to life the mystery, adventure, and wonder that first captured his imagination years ago. Today, Burns continues to explore stories that blend folklore, mystery, and the enduring question of what may still be hidden in the deep woods.
