Suzanne Rayfield Chilton McKenzie graduated from Eminence High School with ancestral roots grown deep into Missouri soil. She attended Missouri State University and graduated Illinois State University in Mathematics and earned a Master of Information Management degree from Washington University School of Engineering. She lived in Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, and Florida. In 2004, after a long career in technical fields, she retired back to Shannon County to a high ridge overlooking the land of her ancestors--now the home of Ozark National Scenic Riverways. She turned family memoirs, letters, genealogy, and official records into a novel as a fundraiser for the local Museums. Her late husband Dan Chilton served as co-author of her first book, BLUE & GRAY CROSS CURRENT. Voice actor, Kevin Crow, prepared the audio book on Audible. She now lives in Florida with husband Roderick (Rick) W. McKenzie, a published poet. CELIA’S BLUE SPRING is the working title of her current historical fiction novel, the life of her 3rd great-grandmother, Celia Johnson Fancher, 1795-1860, the illegitimate daughter of notorious V.P. Richard Mentor Johnson.
