Susan Smith is an award winning author and a life-long writer who published hundreds of magazine articles and taught writing classes. Writing is her passion and she started early writing a book in fifth grade, and a neighborhood newspaper at age 10. She studied journalism in school and worked to publish the student newspaper and yearbook. Over the years, she has contributed to many magazines, with interviews as her specialty. She shared her talents by teaching writing, hosting online workshops and writers’ groups, and creating a handbook for beginning a memoir. She is also a wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend to many. Careers include a banker, jewelry designer, and interior designer. She is a heart attack survivor, and a Mayo Clinic-trained women’s heart health advocate. When not writing, speaking, and sharing her story, she lives with her husband of 20 years, Tomas. They live in Tucson, Arizona, spending summer months in Seaside, Oregon. She enjoys reading, writing, nature, and studying old family histories. "There are so many fascinating stories in our past". My mission is to spread the heart health message to other women, with a warning: “Don’t do what I did. Know the symptoms. Know your body. And, slow down. Remember, you can’t do anything if you’re dead.”
