Sujata Raj grew up in India and the UK, and has lived in New Jersey for more than twenty years. She loves to travel, sometimes on her own and sometimes with family, and she is happiest in historic, bustling places with gorgeous scenery and warm, welcoming cultures, from the temple towns of Tamil Nadu to the markets of Istanbul.

She writes about her travels with warmth, humor and delight from the mix-ups to the kindness of strangers and the moments that never make it into the guidebooks. 'There is no Walmart here' is her travel memoir of trips to Yellowstone, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Israel, Copenhagen, Berlin, and across India.
