My kindergarten teacher Mrs Godsmark wrote in my report: "Stuart Loves Stories!" How prescient she was. I grew up on a steady diet of Wilbur Smith (he attended the same prep school Cordwalles, a few years ahead of me), and loved the adventure of Douglas Bader's Reach for the Sky. Now all these years later I have published more than 20 books of my own.

Born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) I'm a sixth-generation Southern African, have lived in 9 countries, and travelled to around 75 countries. Crazy about motorcycle touring, and global music styles ... everything from African jazz to Latin reggae and ska.

I am a difficult author to follow because I jump around between genres, satisfying my curiosity, and I hope this passion for my project shows up on the page. It could be military history (WW2 mainly), colonial history, music, creativity, etc. So follow me anyway, please!
