I am the author of the Florida-based Marsen Mysteries, the Chicago-based Detective Shannon Rourke Series, and the co-author of the Caribbean Mystery Series with my friend, Wayne Stinnett. As a kid I dreamed of a Chris-Craft Constellation 57-footer on Lake Michigan. I imagined myself cruising from the Upper Peninsula, down the coast of Minnesota, then around to Grand Haven, righting wrongs, and sticking up for the little guy. While I haven’t been the Travis McGee of The Great Lakes (yet), I have been the editor of a tiny college sports mag, a warehouse grunt, a paper pusher, a TV news nobody, an unrepentant party hound, and a backpack video journalist who chronicled everything from the estate sale of a Ponzi scheme conman to a lawyer moonlighting as a pro wrestler. I also did my bit as a pesky freelance investigative reporter, finding a person or two who didn’t want to be found. I aspire to be the patron saint of underdogs, misfits, troublemakers, wanderers and anyone with a strong sense of comedic timing. As such, those are the characters I write, and the stories I tell.
