A 1992 graduate of the US Naval Academy, Stephen Phillips served in the United States Navy as a surface warfare officer, diving officer, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician. Steve is the award-winning author of Proximity: A Novel of the Navy's Elite Bomb Squad, and The Recipient's Son, a coming-of-age novel set at the Naval Academy. He is also the author of A Poisoned Chalice: The US Navy in the Persian Gulf, 1987-1988, an account of the U.S. intervention in the Iran-Iraq War at sea commonly known as “The Tanker War.”
