Sophie Welch was born in San Diego and lived in the city during her childhood. Following attendance at the University of California and Los Angeles she graduated with a degree in Business. On completion of her studies Sophie took a year out and travelled to Europe and Africa. It was during this journey that she became interested in the Pagan religion of Wicca, learning much about the subject from a community who practiced it in North Wales. From this initial interest, Sophie sought out other unusual religions and travelled as far afield as Papua New Guinea in her search, broadening her understanding as she went. On her return to the United States she found work with an online company in New York, but soon become disillusioned by the experience and quit. She now lives with her partner in Ohio and has devoted much of her time to writing books on religion and on her other passion of self-help. Sophie intends to continue writing and to bring her unique views of the world to as many people as possible. In her spare time, she loves nature and taking long walks with her Labrador, Bob. She also enjoys reading, gathering and preserving nature’s harvest in the Fall and spending time with the people she loves most.
