Samantha Lee Howe is a multi-award-winning screenwriter and a USA Today bestselling author. She began her professional writing career in 2007 and has worked as a freelance writer for small, medium, and large publishers ever since. Samantha is the author of more than 30 novels, 60 short stories, and two produced screenplays, writing across a range of genres including thrillers, horror, fantasy, science fiction, and steampunk. Her breakout debut psychological thriller, The Stranger in Our Bed, was published in February 2020 by the HarperCollins imprint, One More Chapter, and quickly became a USA Today bestseller. This success was followed by her explosive spy-thriller trilogy: The House of Killers, Kill or Die, and Kill a Spy, all released in 2021. In August 2020, Samantha signed a deal with the production company Buffalo Dragon for the option and screenplay adaptation of The Stranger in Our Bed. The film premiered on Showtime in the United States on 1 July 2022 and received its international release on 5 September 2022. The film went on to win Best Thriller at the National Film Awards, announced at the televised ceremony on 3 July 2023. Samantha has since received more than twenty film-festival awards for the screenplay. A passionate supporter of charitable work, Samantha is a Survivor Ambassador for the Yorkshire-based domestic abuse charity IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services) and a Patron of Anna Kennedy Online. Her novel 'The Soul Thief', published by HarperCollins in December 2024, marked her return to the horror genre with an atmospheric gothic supernatural thriller. In February 2026, the first book in Samantha’s new mystery series, Mel Greenway Investigates, titled 'A Thorn in the Rose', was published by Bedford Square Publishers. The second novel, 'Flight of the Turner', was released in June 2026, with the third, 'Bride in Funeral Clothing', scheduled for publication in 2027. Samantha lives in South Yorkshire with her husband, historian, writer, and publisher David J. Howe, and their cat, Skye. She is also the proud mother of a daughter, Linzi.
