Romany Heartford writes about teenagers who don’t fit the brochure version of “fine.” She’s spent more than twenty years working with young people as a teacher and literacy specialist, which means she’s seen every seating plan, every panic over the future, and more than a few angry door slams. Her stories live where mental health, identity and first love collide - messy, painful, funny and sometimes hopeful. When she isn’t writing, Romany runs programmes for students who’ve been labelled “too much” or “not enough” and would like to retire both of those phrases immediately. She lives in Cornwall, drinks coffee at structurally unsafe levels, and firmly believes that “broken” people don’t need fixing - they need someone to listen to the whole story.
