Robert Gill, Jr. is the creator of the Carroway Island universe, home to The Carroway Chronicles, the Carroway Island Library, and a growing collection of novels, maritime tales, local histories, field guides, cookbooks, and island lore inspired by the Chesapeake Bay. Drawing upon a lifelong fascination with maritime history, small-town traditions, and the disappearing culture of the Chesapeake watermen, he creates stories that blend humor, mystery, local folklore, and richly detailed island life. His work invites readers into a world where the tides shape daily life, neighbors know one another's stories, and the line between history and legend is often delightfully blurred. Before turning his attention to fiction, Robert spent decades as a publisher, magazine editor, entrepreneur, and author of numerous nonfiction books and articles. His expertise has been featured in Reader's Digest, Newsweek, Fox News Digital, the New York Post, Parade, and many other national and international publications. A lifelong boater and student of coastal history, Robert has spent countless hours exploring the waterways, harbors, marshes, and working waterfronts that inspire the world of Carroway Island. His fiction reflects a deep appreciation for the communities, traditions, and challenges facing America's coastal towns. Robert and his wife have hosted international high school students for many years, an experience that continually reminds him how differently people see the world, and how much people everywhere share in common. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and continues to explore Chesapeake Bay communities, collect stories, and imagine new adventures from the docks, marshes, and back roads of Carroway Island. Through The Carroway Chronicles, the Carroway Island Library, and a growing collection of companion volumes, Robert invites readers to visit a place where ordinary lives contain extraordinary stories, every resident has a tale worth telling, and the tide still sets the rhythm of daily life.
