Robert Francis Curtis was born in Ohio in 1949, making him exactly the right age to be drafted for the Vietnam War. After dropping out of high school (twice), he passed the GED, giving him enough qualifications to gain entry into the Army's Warrant Officer Candidate program. There he learned to fly, starting on a career path as an aviator in the Army, National Guard, Marine Corps, and as an exchange officer with the British Royal Navy Commandos. After flying with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam he earned a BA in political science from the University of Kentucky, being elected to Phi Beta Kappa in his senior year. While serving with the Naval Air Systems Command in Washington he completed an MA in procurement at Webster University. His military awards include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and 23 Air Medals. He continues to fly helicopters, gyroplanes, and fix-wing aircraft whenever the opportunity presents itself. He has three books ready for a publisher: "Journeys", "Med Cruising", and "Water Views". Besides books, Robert also writes short stories and Readers' Theater pieces. Robert and his wife, Mariellen, currently reside in Tampa, Florida.
