Robert Armin is a New York novelist, playwright and theater director and has recently added audiobook narrator to his resume, having narrated more than a dozen unabridged audiobooks for Audible.com including works by such diverse authors as Irving Wallace, John Farris, Renee Andrews and Jill Barnett. As a writer, his first novel, The Flash of Midnight, was published in 2011 and earned Honorable Mention at the 2012 London Book Festival. He collaborated with novelist Budd Schulberg and composer-lyricist Ervin Drake on a revised version of their 1964 musical What Makes Sammy Run? which he directed in New York City in 2006. He also wrote and directed the New York productions of Letters From The Inside, based on the novel by Australian writer John Marsden, and Stalking The Nightmare, a stage adaptation of several short stories by fantasist Harlan Ellison (now available in paperback as "Harlan Ellison's Mortal Dreads"). He directed a staged reading of his "new" Vernon Duke musical Madly in Love at The York Theatre Company and The Broadway Musicals of 1964 at New York City's Town Hall. His revised version of James Thurber and Elliott Nugent's comedy The Male Animal has been presented at the West End Theater in New York City, the Shawnee Playhouse in Pennsylvania, and the Actors Theater of Columbus in Ohio. He also conceived and directed the world premiere of Side By Side By Seymour Glick, a musical revue featuring the comedy songs of Steve Allen, and directed the acclaimed 1996 New York City revival of Say, Darling, the 1958 comedy with songs by Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Jule Styne. Other New York City directing credits include My Sister Eileen and the world premieres of Soul Survivors, Love Is Like That, A Mind is a Terrible Thing To Lose, The Computerization of Byron Keats and 'S Wonderful: The Songs of Ira Gershwin. In 2007, he served as Artistic Director of the Blairstown Theater Festival in Blairstown, New Jersey, where his play Letters From the Inside was chosen one of the five best new plays of the 2006/2007 New Jersey theater season by the Star-Ledger. In 2004, Armin was honored by the Women's Conference Committee of the Screen Actor's Guild and the Crime Victims Treatment Center at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City for his ground-breaking work as the first man in the Hospital's rape crisis volunteer advocate program.
