Rick has been a visual artist most of his life, and he didn't start writing until he became an art teacher. He began writing a blog toward the end of every school year, and did so for about fifteen years. He was encouraged by his readers to write a novel, so he did--Strange Times in Yeehaw Junction. This comedic road trip story, a bizarre journey based on unforeseen circumstances and questionable decisions, was a successful introduction into the world of literary fiction, highlighting Sanders' strong writing skills and his creative vision. His second book, The Walking Bridge, is an absorbing tale of two doppelgangers, a homeless artist, and the three passionate and intelligent women who move in and out of their lives. Rick welcomes you into the minds and souls of his very real characters, where you can ponder their thoughts and feel their passions while being drawn headlong into a tale that could have only been written by someone with his imagination, and his love for and interest in the human condition. He hopes that somewhere within his words you will find yourself.
