Randy Preston is a composer, writer, and performer, raised and educated in the UK and Kenya. A former English Lit teacher, Randy has composed for ABC Mouse, and composed and performed in the Kennedy Center’s 2023 limited digital series, Songbook. He composed the score for the nationally touring musical - Acoustic Rooster’s Barnyard Boogie: starring Indigo Blume, with book by the amazing Mary Rand Hess, and played the role of Acoustic Rooster in the KCTYA debut run in November of 2021.He is anticipating th 2026 publication of his debut picture book, First Drum. Randy’s current projects include a musical adaptation of the documentary Love Them First, with award-winning playwright Candrice Jones, and a YA novel in final revision. He is the Artist in Residence at WRI and lives on Piscataway land.
