Ralph Brauer is a retired professor who served as an administrator at the University of Minnesota and taught at Bowling Green State University in Ohio where he served on the honors faculty and received an American Film Institute Fellowship. Brauer’s academic career is complemented by wide-ranging community organizing and consulting experience that earned him a coveted Bush Leadership Fellowship. An award-winning writer, his work has also appeared in The Nation, Newsweek, and New York Times Magazine as well as various anthologies and journals. Brauer’s half-century of community service includes terms on the planning commission and school board. A former wilderness canoe guide, he enjoys various outdoor activities with his wife, a nursing professor emeritus.
