I am a professor at Carnegie Mellon University and fascinated by how digitization of content has been reshaping industries, consumers and our policy making. The technology revolution in last 10 years has had a profound impact of music, motion picture and publishing industry. First and foremost I am researcher who has been studying this issue for over a decade now and have published numerous papers in top scientific journals and have written extensively about them in popular press. Many of these work is cited in the press as well as by firms and policy makers. I also work closely with firms on many of the issues that the book highlights. I have extensively advised firms on pricing, promotion and policy decision making. Our book (with my co-author Michael Smith) is a synthesis of both my research and what the conversations with the industry has taught us. You can learn more about the book at www.smithtelang.com I live in Wexford (a suburb of Pittsburgh) with my wife and two boys. Besides work, I am a sports junkie and love to watch and play variety of sports (especially Golf) and can talk about it any time and for any number of hours. I teach an advanced course on Data Analytics to masters students at Carnegie Mellon. You can visit my page at https://www.heinz.cmu.edu/~rtelang/rahul_res.html.
